For Authors

Working guidance for the future New Series. Formal instructions will follow publisher agreement.
Submission status: the New Series is not yet accepting manuscripts. These are provisional scientific principles, not final submission instructions. Formal author guidelines will be published after the publishing and editorial arrangements are agreed.

New Series author guidance

Detailed submission instructions will be published after the publishing model and manuscript platform are agreed.

The working editorial model welcomes four core formats: Original Research, Reviews, Perspectives and Methods. Across formats, JAI will emphasize transparent methods, appropriate controls, proportional interpretation and reproducibility. Final technical requirements will be aligned with the publisher platform before submissions open.

Provisional article architecture

Original ResearchMechanistic and/or ecologically grounded primary studies.
ReviewsCritical syntheses that reorganise evidence and define research agendas.
PerspectivesConcise, forward-looking arguments on concepts, standards or emerging areas.
MethodsAnalytical or experimental advances with broad relevance to the field.

Planned standards

  • Clear distinction between phytotoxicity, allelochemical bioactivity and demonstrated ecological allelopathy.
  • Experimental concentrations and exposure pathways justified in biological or environmental context.
  • Appropriate chemical characterization when causal claims concern specific compounds.
  • Transparent statistical analysis and reporting.
  • Data and supplementary materials made available according to the future publisher's policies.
  • Current international publication-ethics standards.
  • Claims calibrated to the evidence: papers are not required to complete the full evidence ladder, but causal language must not outrun the experimental design.

Working editorial screen

Editors will ask first: What interaction is being claimed, what evidence supports that claim, and what alternative explanations remain?

Routine inhibition assays without a broader scientific question are unlikely to fit the New Series. Conversely, a carefully framed study need not identify every step in a causal pathway if its conclusions remain appropriately bounded.

Original Series instructions

The instructions used by the Original Series are retained in the website files for historical reference, but they are not the submission rules for the New Series.
